  • Christmas Jumper Day

    Fri 18 Dec 2015

Christmas Jumper Day (School Aid for the Philippines)

We are inviting all pupils to take part in a Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 18th December.  Everyone is asked to wear their sparkliest, silliest, cosiest Christmas woollies!  Your child can decorate a plain jumper with tinsel or baubles, or wear a festive jumper if they already have one.

This year we are supporting a programme from The Literacy in a Box Trust, in partnership with Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland.  The object of the trust is to advance education in schools in third world countries.  A member of our teaching staff, Mr Rainey spent two weeks last summer in the Philippines and saw first hand what a benefit the boxes would be to the children out there.

There will be a collection box available on Friday 18th December for contributions (suggested donations £1.00).  Parents who have children in P1 – P3 classes will have the opportunity to make a donation at the Christmas Assembly on Wednesday 9th December.

A sample of the Literacy Box is on view in the school foyer.  A Literacy Box costs £295 and contains enough materials for 25 children.  Just £12 gives one of these children the essentials to be able to attend school.

    Your support is much appreciated.

    Mr I Gourley

  • Hollywood Stars in Antrim Primary School

    Tue 15 Dec 2015

Antrim a Primary School children Lucia Pandolfi, Libbie Thompson, and Marco Pandolfi travelled to Washington DC last week to perform at the Senate for the Showing of 'A Christmas Star.'  This was a movie that was filmed in Northern Ireland, involving young children from all over the Province by Cinemagic. Lucia, Libbie and Marco starred in the movie.

After performing in Washington, the children flew to LA to perform at the premiere of the movie at Grauman's Chinese Theatre, Hollywood Blvd. All three children had shown their talents in front of  a star studded line up of guests. This was an amazing experience for the children and they loved every moment of this fantastic trip.

Everyone at Antrim Primary School would like to congratulate the children on this fantastic achievement.

  • P1-P3 Christmas Assembly

    Tue 08 Dec 2015

    To : P1 – P3 Parents

Best wishes to the children, teachers and assistants who have been working very hard in preparation for the Christmas Assembly – ‘’Wriggly Nativity’.

Tickets for the 2 performances have now been sent home. We thank you for your understanding relating to the ticket allocation, which was necessary in order to avoid overcrowding in the Hall.

First Performance 9.30am – for parents of P1 children and P2 (Mrs Hewitt).

Car parking available from 9.00am.  Seating available from 9.10am. Please vacate the car park promptly to allow parking for the second performance.

Second Performance 11.00am – for parents of P2 children (Mrs Hume/Mrs Reed) and P3 children.  Seating available from 10.45am.

We anticipate heavy traffic near school as parents from the first performance leave.  It would be very helpful if you are able to find alternative parking on the day.  Please note that parking on Station Road outside school may attract the attention of Traffic Wardens.

We would also ask parents to bear in mind that P1 – P3 pupils have ‘small’ voices and require quietness when performing.  It is therefore not suitable for pre-school children to attend.  Thank you for your support in this matter which will ensure that adults and pupils will get full enjoyment from the occasion.  All P4 – P7 pupils will have seen the dress rehearsal today.

There will be a retiring offering for The Literacy in a Box Trust, in partnership with Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland.  The object of the trust is to advance education in schools in third world countries.  Proceeds from our Christmas Jumper Day next Friday 18th December will also go towards this worthwhile cause.  P1-P3 children will not be asked to donate next Friday.  Thank you for your continued support.
