'Start Right to Shine Bright'

Term 2

Enjoying some ice lollies on a beautiful sunny day ☀️

During topic maths we are now learning about measures. We set out to get an idea of what was the same length as a metre stick, 30cm ruler and 15cm ruler. We had to try to estimate before measuring.

We love using the laptops. We had an extra session this week so played our set of Numeracy games to keeping practicing our ‘Time’ work.

We love our Art sessions. We used clay to make tea light holders for Mother’s Day 🌸

We always love PE but even more when we get to go outside.

Activity Based Learning week 3 & 4 for our Weather topic. We’ve had great fun while putting our knowledge into action 🙌🏻

Our week of STEAM activities. We enjoyed learning about all thing STEAM related this week. We carried out experiments, art and maths activities, coding, watched science shows and found out about some scientists 👩‍🔬 Wehad great fun!

Superheroes 🦸‍♀️🦸🦸‍♀️

For Children’s Mental Health week some of our activities were outside, remembering the importance of physical activity, friendship and sunlight. We also made a picture showing the things that are important to us, our roots and nurture us and then the things that make us happy, the flower. We also drew a picture of a happy, healthy brain.

Activity Based Learning Week 1 from our new topic, ‘Whatever the Weather’.

We had a special assembly from NSPCC and carried out some activities in our class to help understand how we can ‘speak out and stay safe’.

We enjoyed going to the book fair this year agin. We look forward to seeing all the new books. 📚📚📚

We had great fun bird watching during the Big Schools’ Bird Watch!

We have been learning about satellites and what they are used for. In Art we designed and made our own. They had solar panels, a communication method and antennas. We have used Google Earth to look at different places around the world but also local such as our school, the Lough and Castle gardens.

We wrote some senses poems about Winter with a partner. We loved coming up with ideas with our friends.

We used watercolours to paint beautiful moonlit winter trees. We really enjoyed painting our Winter trees with the beautiful full moon as our light on a clam, still night.

UICT- we enjoy using the class laptops each week.

We went outside to look at and feel the snow so we could write some poems about it. We wrote poems about having fun in the snow and also the dangers of snowy weather ⛄️ ❄️I tried to include some examples, everyone did so well!
