  Our Primary 1 and 2 pupils thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon performance of Mr Hullabaloo on Wednesday which was organised by the PTA. There was lots of laughter and giggles.

  

• HELPING HANDS DONATION

  On Friday morning we had a special assembly where we presented a cheque to Helping Hands at the Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children. We raised a fantastic £1348.95 from our charity collections at Christmas. Thank you to everyone for their donations.

  

• JUMP, JIGGLE AND JIVE

  Primary 1 and Primary 2 pupils have had the opportunity to take part in 2 weeks of Jump, Jiggle and Jive. They have had great fun dancing and exercising to music.

  

• DRUGS AWARENESS

  During the next few weeks, P7 pupils will be learning about harmful substances, under the tutelage of Stephen and Chloe from Antrim Youth Information and Counselling Centre.

  Monday's  presentation highlighted the dangers of illegal drugs and in weeks to come they will learn about the dangers of alcohol and legal highs.

   

  

• ACCELERATED READER CERTIFICATES

  Accelerated reader is a scheme that allows pupils to increase their reading skills. Pupils choose a book within their level and after reading it complete a quiz, this allows them to see their improvement over the year. At the end of each month a pupil is chosen from each class to receive the Star Reader award for their achievements in AR. Pupils may receive this award because they have read lots of books and received good results in the quizzes or because of their improvement over the month. Well done to all pupils who received this certificate in January!

  Pupils can also receive the Millionaire Certificate. This is for reading over 1 million words over the course of the year. We have six pupils so far who have achieved this award, three of whom have actually read over 2 million words! Well done to the pupils who have attained this award.

  

• PRIMARY TEAM MATHS CHALLENGE

  Congratulations to Deborah Bell, Elijah Ingle, Louis Onion and Umar Sarwar who won 2nd place in the Maths Challenge Competition at Ballymena Academy. They showed great mathematical knowledge and skill under time pressure. Thank you to Mrs Bell for accompanying the team. Well done!

  

• CREDIT UNION QUIZ

  A P7 team, comprising of Annie Cathcart, Owen Magee-Smyth, Lewis McClurg and Tori Lee Milliken participated in the annual CU Quiz. Questions were asked on various topics including History, Geography and General Knowledge. Our team scored very well and were excellent ambassadors for our school, well done everyone!

  

• HOCKEY BLITZ

  We had another great day at the Hockey Blitz on Monday. Thank you to Ulster Hockey for organising this event. Both of our teams thoroughly enjoyed the experience and played some fantastic hockey. We look forward to taking part in the February Blitz.

  Congratulations to P5 pupil Abigail Molloy  who represented school  in the Northern Ireland Cross Country Finals at Mallusk Playing Fields on Wednesday.
