STAFF RETIRING

Mr Gourley, Mrs McCloskey, Mrs Moore and Mrs Clark will be retiring at the end of August 2026. We would take this opportunity to thank them for their many years of dedicated and selfless service to Antrim Primary School. Each has made a significant and lasting contribution to our school community, leaving a profound legacy and touching the lives of countless children. They will be greatly missed, and we wish them every happiness in their well-earned retirement.

BOYS FOOTBALL

What a season it has been for our Primary School Football Team!

The boys have been outstanding from start to finish, winning the Antrim & Newtownabbey Primary Schools’ League, the County Antrim Invitational, and the interCity NI Futsal Competition.

They also reached the Antrim & Newtownabbey Primary Schools’ Cup Final, narrowly missing out after a heartbreaking penalty shootout.

We couldn't be prouder of this incredible group of players. Their talent, teamwork, determination and sportsmanship have been a credit to our school throughout the season.

A huge thank you to our parents and supporters for their encouragement every step of the way. Well done, boys – what an unforgettable season!

BEING WELL DOING WELL

On Tuesday Mrs Cardwell attended the EA 'Being Well Doing Well' Celebration Event in St. Bernards Primary School in Glengormley. She was presented with our 'Being Well Doing Well' School plaque, which acknowledges all that we have been doing in APS to promote and boost the Emotional Health and Wellbeing of all pupils and staff.

P4 VISIT FROM ULSTER SCOTS AGENCY

Primary 4 had a wonderful visit from Shirlie from the Ulster-Scots Agency. During the session, the children learned about the strong historical links between Ulster and Scotland and discovered how these connections have shaped our culture today. They were introduced to some Ulster-Scots words and enjoyed practicing using them in fun activities.

Shirlie also explained the history and meaning behind tartan fabric, including how different patterns can represent families and regions. The highlight of the visit was when the pupils had the opportunity to design their own tartans, using colours and patterns that were special to them.

Everyone had a fantastic time and the class learned so much from this engaging and interactive experience.

P4 UGLY BUG BALL

P4 children dressed up for their ugly bug ball to complete their minibeast topic. The costumes were fabulous and the children had lots of fun.

P4- ULSTER MUSEUM

What a fantastic day our P4 class had on their visit to the Ulster Museum!

The children got stuck into a fun art activity – paper weaving, showing great creativity and teamwork. We also explored the museum and saw some amazing exhibits, including an Egyptian mummy and beautiful precious stones – lots of “wow” moments!

During a workshop, the class learned all about the seasons and even had the chance to hold real museum objects, which made the experience extra special.

It was a day full of fun, discovery, and great learning – well done P4 for being such super ambassadors for our school!
