  • HOCKEY BLITZ

    Fri 06 Mar 2026

This week, both hockey teams travelled to Parkhall Integrated College to take part in the Ulster Hockey Blitz. On Wednesday the girls had a fantastic day qualifying for the semi-final, which was decided by tense sudden death ‘run ins’. Our girls won the battle to the final and although narrowly beaten 1-0 by Clough PS, as runners up on the day, they progress to the Ulster Hockey Finals in April.
On Thursday the boys had just as much a thrilling day, although not the weather. They too reached the final by a semi-final which went to sudden death ‘run ins’. With a scoreless final, it was ‘run ins’ again, and although they were defeated 2-0 by Moorefileds PS, they also progress to Finals Day alongside the girls. All pupils represented APS with great sportsmanship, special thanks to Ulster Hockey for organising a fantastic tournament.

They have been singing, dancing, playing percussion instruments, learning musical terms and having so much fun! In Lesson 1 they learned how to get into special listening positions to help focus on the words of the song 'New Year, New You'. This was a lovely mindful activity, as well as helping with their Literacy skills. Watch this space for more photos and videos!
